African mbira workshops
The African mbira is a traditional instrument with a beautiful sound that has traditionally been used by the Shona people of Zimbabwe as a spiritual pathway to their ancestors, for guidance and healing purposes.
Otto teaches African music workshops on the mbira nyunga nyunga, a contemporary 15 key version of the traditional mbira which was developed in the 1960s at Kwanongoma College of Music in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Otto’s mbira workshops are always built up from very basic patterns, to more complicated parts, allowing complete beginners and more advanced players to learn together. His workshops typically include a bit of singing, and are a lovely way to relax through music. Workshops can be private or delivered to groups of up to 15 participants. Workshops are open to all ages above 8 and require no previous musical experience or formal training.
